About the Erasmus Programme
Launched in 1987, the Erasmus Programme enables university students across Europe to study abroad in another EU member state. Named after the Renaissance scholar Erasmus of Rotterdam, it has benefited over 12 million students in its history. In 2022 it celebrated its 35th anniversary, which all eurozone countries commemorated with this shared design.
