2 Euro Commemorative, Germany Saarland 2009

Obverse (shown) β€” features the Ludwigskirche (Ludwig’s Church) in SaarbrΓΌcken, one of the most important Baroque churches in Germany. The inscription “SAARLAND” appears at the bottom, “BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND” on the outer ring, year “2009” at the top, mint mark “J” at the bottom and designer’s initials “FB” visible on the right side of the image.

Reverse (standard EU side) β€” features the numeral “2 EURO” with the EU map and 12 stars.


About Ludwigskirche

Built between 1762–1775, designed by architect Friedrich Joachim Stengel, it is considered one of the finest Late Baroque Protestant churches in Germany.
