About the Czech Koruna The 5 koruna coin has been a staple of Czech currency since the country’s independence in 1993. It is made of nickel-plated steel, making it very magnetic and durable. The depiction of the Charles Bridge on the reverse connects the currency to one of the most historical and recognizable landmarks of the Czech capital, Prague.
