Obverse (shown) β€” features the magnificent Cologne Cathedral (KΓΆlner Dom), one of the most iconic Gothic cathedrals in the world. Inscription “NORDRHEIN-WESTFALEN” at the bottom, year “20β˜…11” in the outer ring, mint mark “D” appearing both on the outer ring (top) and inside the inner disc (upper right).

Reverse (standard EU side) β€” features the numeral “2 EURO” with the EU map and 12 stars.


About Cologne Cathedral

Construction began in 1248 and was only completed in 1880 β€” over 600 years later. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996 and the tallest twin-spired church in the world at 157 metres. It holds the Shrine of the Three Kings, one of the most important medieval reliquaries.
