Obverse (shown) β€” features the world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle surrounded by Alpine forest and mountains. Inscription “BAYERN” at the bottom, year “20β˜…12” in the outer ring, mint mark “D” both on the outer ring (top) and inside the disc (right). Designer’s initials “OE” visible on the left.

Reverse (standard EU side) β€” features the numeral “2 EURO” with the EU map and 12 stars.


About Neuschwanstein Castle

Built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria between 1869–1886, it is one of the most visited castles in Europe and the inspiration for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Castle. It sits dramatically on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau in the Bavarian Alps.
