2 Koruny, Czech Republic 2007

Obverse — features the crowned Czech lion with a double tail, the national symbol of the Czech Republic. The inscription “ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA” arcs around the top and sides, and the year of mintage, “2007”, is located at the bottom. Between the lion’s paws, the mint mark of the Czech Mint (a crowned monogram “b”) is visible.

Reverse — displays a large numeral “2” followed by the abbreviation “Kč” (Korun českých). The prominent feature is a stylized Great Moravian button-jewel (gombík) with a bird motif, which is a significant archaeological find from the 9th century, representing the early history and jewelry craftsmanship of the region. The coin has a distinctive 11-sided (undecagonal) shape with a rounded rim.

The designer The coin was designed by the Czech sculptor Jarmila Truhlíková-Spěváková. Her initials (a stylized “JTS”) are subtly placed near the bottom rim of the reverse side.

Where it was minted The coin was struck at the Česká mincovna (Czech Mint) in Jablonec nad Nisou.
