Commemorative coin. 70th anniversary of the Bundesrat — upper house of the German parliament. Building in Berlin formerly known as Prussian House of Lords

What’s on the coin
The design shows a highly detailed and finely sculpted rendering of the Bundesrat building. The upper half of the inner section includes the mint mark of the respective mint, the artist’s initials, and the year “2019”. The lower half contains the inscription “BUNDESRAT” and Germany’s issuing country code “D”.
The occasion
The coin pays tribute to the Bundesrat — one of the five permanent constitutional bodies of the Federal Republic of Germany — which in 2019 celebrated the 70th anniversary of its foundation.
The Bundesrat is Germany’s upper house of parliament, representing the 16 federal states at the national level. The building depicted is the former Prussian House of Lords in Berlin, which has served as the Bundesrat’s seat since German reunification in 1990.
The edge
As on current German commemorative €2 coins, the inscription “EINIGKEIT UND RECHT UND FREIHEIT” (unity, justice and freedom) is embossed on the coin’s edge, together with a stylised federal eagle.
Total mintage – 30 million coins.
